Privacy

Last updated: November 6, 2026 (America/Chicago).

This policy describes the ruralhometools.com static site as it works today. It does not invent analytics, ads, accounts, or payment features that are not connected.

What this site is

Most pages are static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Calculators (septic, gravel, firewood, propane, water heater, checklists) run in your browser. Inputs you type into those calculators are not sent to our servers by the calculator code itself.

Optional AI helpers

Some pages offer photo or text helpers (well report reader, water heater label, septic symptoms, propane gauge). Configuration lives in ai/config.js.

What we do not collect yet

Cookies and similar

The calculators do not set tracking cookies. Browser storage may be used for an optional AI free-read counter only when a live worker is connected (see above). Demo mode does not rely on that quota. Cloudflare (hosting/CDN) may process standard request logs as part of delivering the site; we do not control Cloudflare's infrastructure logging.

Children

This site is aimed at adults managing a household. It is not directed at children under 13.

Contact about privacy

There is no public privacy contact email published yet. When a dedicated site contact address is connected, use that for privacy questions. See Contact.

Contact form

The Contact Us form is connected in the current public build. When you submit it, your name, email, message, which site (rural), and a timestamp are stored in a private Cloudflare D1 database bound to our contact Worker (site-contact.jennswette.workers.dev). We do not publish those messages on the website. Site operators read them only through private Cloudflare account access, not through a public page.

Spam controls include Cloudflare Turnstile (site key in public contact-config.js; secret verified only on the server), a honeypot field, request size limits, and rate limiting. We do not store visitor IP addresses in the contact message table. Cloudflare may still process standard request metadata as part of delivering Workers and Turnstile.

If the public endpoint or Turnstile site key were removed from contact-config.js, the form would stop sending. Today both are configured.

We do not promise email replies within a set time, automated acknowledgements, or third-party email forwarding unless those features are added later and this policy is updated.

Changes

If analytics, ads, email signup, or a live AI worker are added later, this page should be updated before those features go live.
